Growing up we had a meal that we now look back on and laugh. When talking with my parents about it they explained that when we were growing up we didn't have a lot of money. Being a child we didn't know any better. From my stand point we always had "enough".
For dinner some nights we had cornbread. This was the main course. The ONLY course.
No appetizers.
This was not a side dish for a steak or poultry dinner either.
This was it.
We did get butter and honey to put on it.
To this day we still laugh about eating "only cornbread" for dinner!

dad and I laugh about this now, too, but the truth be known, all 3 of you kids wanted corn bread for dinner and all 3 of you sat up and ate well without complaining about it!!!!! It made my day complete.... mom
